Bill Moyers’ interview with Tim DeChristopher

June 25, 2013 by Lamb L.

Beginning June 28 at the Music Hall we’ll screen BIDDER 70, the new documentary about environmental activist Tim DeChristopher, who was jailed for two years for protesting an auction of gas and oil drilling rights in Utah. He disrupted the proceeding in a novel way: by bidding on and winning leases he could never pay for.

Tim was recently released and Bill Moyers interviewed him.

Yes, that was James Franco sitting behind you in LEVIATHAN

May 24, 2013 by Lamb L.

Devourer of media (and world famous Oscar co-host) James Franco wasn’t satisfied just reading a book about video games while listening to Daft Punk in the lobby of our Music Hall 3 theater in Beverly Hills. No, he needed more and jumped right into a screening of LEVIATHAN… which he LOVED.

“This is life. Man versus nature. Man’s machines. Man’s mastery of the planet. Man’s destruction of the planet. Man’s ushering in of the apocalypse. But it is also beautiful.”

You can read his full review at vice.com

While LEVIATHAN is no longer in L.A. theaters, we encourage you to add it to your Netflix queue.

3 GEEZERS! filmmaker Michelle Schumacher and actor J.K. Simmons will participate in a Q&A after the 7:40 PM screening at the Music Hall 3 in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, May 22.

Follow actor J Kimball (Juno, Spider-Man, Up In the Air) as he researches what it’s like to be old for a role in an upcoming movie. When he meets the residents at The Coconuts convalescent home, he quickly discovers that his perceptions of the elderly may be off from today’s reality.

Appearances by THE GHASTLY LOVE OF JOHNNY X cast and filmmakers in Pasadena and Beverly Hills

May 16, 2013 by Lamb L.

THE GHASTLY LOVE OF JOHNNY director Paul Bunnell will be at the Playhouse 7 for the Friday (May 17) show, along with cinematographer Francisco Bulgarelli and actor Jed Rowen (“Sluggo”). And at the Music Hall 3 on Friday (May 17) will be actors Will Keenan (“Johnny X”) and Les Williams (“Chip”) and costume designer Kristina West. They’ll have free JOHNNY X comic books to give away at both screenings while supplies last.

Paul Bunnell’s 1950s throwback dials up the weirdness of the already surreal genre of sci-fi B movies with show-stopping musical numbers, over-the-top dialogue, and hilariously hokey special effects.
