UPDATE: Our schedule is limited 10/26 through 10/29 as our largest auditoriums are closed for the installation of new seats and carpets. Check www.laemmle.com for showtimes.

Dear Town Center 5 moviegoers, please note we will be closing down the theater after the last shows on Sunday, September 13th to begin refurbishing the theater, beginning with the lobby and concessions area.
We plan to re-open on Friday, October 2nd with several terrific new films, including Francois Ozon’s The New Girlfriend, Zhang Yimou’s Coming Home and the moving new British drama A Brilliant Young Mind.
Auditorium improvements including seats, carpet, and curtains will begin in phases soon after we re-open.
Here’s a rendering below. Thanks for your patience and patronage!
Looking forward to theater updating! And really hoping for a new theater location in the Conejo Valley!
Will the new seat be stadium Seat?
I wish you could bring “Heart of Lightness” from Norway to your new theatre.
Wow! Very modern! But a little ORANGE goes a long way.
Would rather see a mural of old movie greats, and or actors.
Maybe a circular sofa in the center, wherein when one is seated they face the outside. But I love that the Laemmle plays films of more intelligent and thoughtful taste.
Orange is a big color with sports teams in Tennessee. I saw a memorable “mural of old movie greats” in a wonderful old hotel in San Miguel de Allende.
I hope you guys are planning to give a nice stipend to all the great employees there. It’s got to be hard not getting paid for three weeks!
Still looking for for someone to call me back about renting a theater.
Are there still folks checking the mail coming in while work is being done?
Terrific, about time. I worked there 30 years ago as a kid. It needs updating. Now if you can have a theatre location in the Westlake/Thousand Oaks area that would be even better!
Very happy! I have been a long time fan.
After the closing of your Fallbrook Cinema you were looking for another
location on the westside of the Valley, still true?
Totally love the movies from this theatre. Time to re-do the embarrassing carpets. Good going! See you then.
So happy and relieved to hear that renovation is underway. It’s long overdue, and I applaud these steps that show you value the loyalty of your long-time patrons.
As a frequent movie goer at this theater I am glad you are doing renovations but am concerned about new seats. The north Hollywood theater put in seats that hurt my back so much j can no longer go there. I hope you do not use those and that , especially with our seniors.
I would gladly try them out :-)
Will you still use real butter on your popcorn?
We miss you so much in West Hills. Please come back!
Great news about remodel! So happy to know my favorite theater will be what it should be!
I had NO problem with the existing theater. Don’t understand the complainers. I prefer your gently-racked auditoriums to the stadium seating at your royal theater Projection and sound are excellent at the Encino five. I burned out on European art-house films years ago, but I really like many of the films from INDIA that you show. It would be nice to be able to get advance info on Indian film screenings. Tired of driving to Sunshine Market on Topanga just to check the poster on the door. From the late 1910s onward, the aim of film exhibitors was to inform the audoence in advance—gets them excited and enables them to plan their day.
Despite your claims otherwise, your website does not update beyond the day of log-on except sometimes very late on Thursday you display what will be showing on Friday. Thanks for your continued dedication to film exhibition. Any chance you could convince your importer of Indian films to bring in some of the digitally-restored
classics from the 1950 and 60s? I believe a digital version of Pyaasa is to be made available early next year. I’m voting for Mr. & Mrs. ’55.
Thanks for everything.
I love Laemmle!!
How about Taking over one of the Regency in Agoura or Westlake Twin.
Encino is a hike when we hit all the traffic from Agoura through Calabasas.
So glad to hear this! Will the projectors be upgraded as well?
Happy to hear you will be reopening in a short time as you are the only theater we go to. Best choice of films. We’ll do the trek to NoHo until then. Hope the restrooms will be included in the update.
Like everyone else says the renovation will be welcome. Just hope it will be on schedule as I depend on you for foreign films and the vast majority of my film going. Less options since the Fallbrook Mall location closed and Santa Monica. When is that reopening??????? I can hop down the mountain and get there as easily as Town Center but the Royal is a traffic and parking nightmare during the week from where I live.
Glad to hear you’re refurbishing! Looking forward to enjoying the improvements. I’m a regular there but I never buy the popcorn because the smell in the lobby makes me ill. It would be great if you could start making popcorn with coconut oil. Before the idiotic low-fat food fad of the past few decades, that we now know was not rooted in scientific facts, all movie theaters made popcorn with coconut oil. It smells wonderful and the popcorn tastes great.
This is a long time coming and is good news.. I hope this will also include the women’s bathroom. It really needs updating and cleaning up.
We are looking forward to it! We love the theater but it has been getting a bit seedy. However, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Keep the fresh coffee on offer. Keep the wonderful old movie posters on display. And… please Please PLEASE keep the late shows showing! THX
:)
Thank Goodness! It’s about time
Great and I hope the refurbishing goes FARTHER than the lobby
Rosalie, it does! Auditorium improvements including seats, carpet, and curtains will begin in phases soon after we re-open.
I remember that!
Yes, yes, yes! A theater in the Thousand Oaks- Calabasas area!!
